untitled
2008, three colour photographs, c-print alu-dibond

The photographic work "Untitled" is about our handling of energy, about wastage and
opulence. Starting point is the more frequent Sunday sale of late - a kind of test to
slowly aclimatize the people to the new opening times and finally to irrevocably
inaugurate unlimited shopping possibilities. The photos show ghastly abandoned shops
which are all brightly lit although no one is there. They make themselves attractive for
potential customers with exorbitantly brilliant luminosity. Hence, the work revolves on
a second level, around consumerism and seduction. For its presentation large-sized
prints were developed and displayed in light boxes which remind you of advertising
boxes. The installation resembles a triptych which establishes a reference to religious
altarpieces.
